       #GoodNightListening Handel came up in my thinking and I needed to listen to (at least one of) his nine German Arias. They are, every one of them, delightful. Over the years I’ve played them many times. But this means I have Opinions so finding a performance to link that doesn’t annoy me is hard.  This one comes close. Marie Friederike Schöder and Batzdorfer Hofkapelle. They properly ornament on the da capo, so that’s great even if I don’t like all their choices.        @Gaolaitch I feel my voice is just "heavy" enough that it’ll be difficult. I took much easier to "Caro mio ben" for example. But it does sound like fun.

       @mirabilos Some are more suitable than others in that way, I would guess. But (as a teacher used to say to me) assuming you have the necessary agility is probably the right starting point, everything else is self-limiting.

       @Gaolaitch yeah, necessity is met. It’s not like Königin der Nacht staccati. No matter what octave I try, I can never get them. Maybe technique, but I am also rather… opposite of sportive and fit.

       @mirabilos I don’t envy singers having to think about technique. It’s all internal and affected by everything else going on in the body. And unlike the rest of us you can’t ‘trade up’ to another instrument!

       @Gaolaitch yeah, and I’m just an amateur with tons of allergies and tensed muscles from computer day job; sometimes it’s hard. But so, so much fun. I’ll be in the choir of 1500 under Rutter in Nürnberg over Samhain!
