       @7c0h @ElenLeFoll well, this „translation“ adequately describes both my knowledge and my interest in dashes of any type. I learned touch typing on real typewriters, there was only one dash, which was always enough ;-)

       @Tho99 @7c0h @ElenLeFoll do US typewriters and keyboards produce an em-dash, instead of an en-dash? It seems to be a US, and now LLM, only feature. All my keyboards, including the tablet keyboard I'm typing this on only have a " - ", admittedly they are all ISO not ANSI, but I can't see any relevant difference in their key value assignment.

       @Tho99 @7c0h @ElenLeFoll @marjolica that’s neither, the one on the keyboard is usually the ASCII hyphen-minus which can be used for dashes and hyphens and minuses in the absence of a better option and is used for command line options

       @7c0h at least mentally it's valid german: "it's forbidden! to mix them up".But what bothers me a bit is a mathematical ambiguity. If it's twice as big as it is, is it sqrt(2) times or is it 2 times longer than it is?
