       i wish alt text to be replaced by ai running on the client phone. these walls of text over videos are annoying as fuck. people reposting images because of "muh, no alt text" is annoying. people complaining about absence of alt text is annoying. "i cannot repost, because of no alt text" is annoying. it's like demanding car free cities: just stop trying to make things less enjoyable for others. simply shutup.obligatory i should mention that this is from the perspective of someone who is likely to go blind within the next 10 years. i see the need to describe media for people with impeared vision, but alt texts is not a good solution to this problem.I know there are many "progressives" hating ai in principle. fuck these people over with steam roller. i refuse to give up on the idea of FULLY automated communism. The important task is to take computation in our own hands, run ai locally. I don't care how it is trained, how much copyright it infringed. fuck copyright anyways, it's a capitalist concept. run ai, fuck alt texts, fuck corpos, drive loud and fun cars.

       @condret Even as an ideological enemy I have to agree with the idea of ditching alt text altogether (This bullshit somehow made it to fedi while I was on break? and people were already fighting over it) and this is a good solution. If websites don't want their content ran through AI they can simply block the disabled.
