       Ah, it's time for #GoodNightListening Tonight, I have been listening to Richard Strauss's Oboe Concerto, the history of which I have written about here, a while back. It is one of the last pieces he wrote, and it is looking backwards in almost every imaginable way, but that is not a criticism. It's a small but very good piece, and the slow movement in particular I find very moving, achingly beautiful.The link is to a performance (slow movement only) by Heinz Holliger; as the three movements are linked without breaks, it might make sense to stop at about the 8 minute mark, before the cadenza and transition to the last movement.https://youtu.be/M00dn1fXPgY
