       I tried to play a bit of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Adventure Game today, and am once again reminded of how bad I am at adventure game logic. No matter how much I like them, I just struggle to find a way to make my brain think in the "right" way. I'm sure there's a trick to it.. Is there?        @jibsaram this one is a "it's not you, it's the game" problem unfortunately 😆 Last Crusade has some absolutely terrible puzzles. in this game's case, the only suggestion i have is to *not* think of logical solutions to problems. if a door is stuck because it's rusty - don't put oil on the hinge. buy a bottle of coke from the restaurant, and immerse the hinge in coke until the hinge disintegrates and the door falls off. LucasArts liked designing these "lateral thinking" puzzles - but honestly, i've never found them enjoyable.

       @vga256@tomodori.net yeah I may have picked a less ideal "first" choice here 😅. I went with it because I have a handful of adventure games I'd like to (finally) play through, and this is one of the earliest/oldest ones I have. That, and, you know, Indiana Jones 😄

       @vga256@tomodori.net I've got that one too, yes! definitely on my to-play list. It might be worth considering for me to jump ahead in time a bit and "get the hang" of adventure game thinking with some more forgiving titles before coming back to this one.Speaking of Last Crusade: do you know how important reading the (physical, not in-game) journal is to be able the progress through the game? I feel a bit silly to admit this, but the handwriting used in the journal is extremely difficult to read. I'm fairly certain a doctor must've written this, my gosh 😅

       @jibsaram afaik, the grail diary is only necessary at the end of the game to solve one puzzle.FoA is so much more enjoyable in almost every way. while I do like Last Crusade's setting, design-wise, it's one of the worst lucasarts adventures.
