       @cheri the discord situation seems so crazy to me. They seem to be one of the few big social platforms that actually manage to get people to pay them (or at least, I see a disturbing high number of discord nitro users around). It just feels like they would have such an easy time carving out an image closer to what valve has if they actually cared somehow

       @amy there is one difference. Valve is a privately owned company with ultimately the goal to please the consumer for profit and Discord is a venture capital funded business which has to please stakeholders at some point.Discord initially did have a pretty good reputation until it started to enshitify to attempt to make profits finally.The shift from Skype and a lot other platforms to Discord wasn't for no reason. It was liked. quite a bit.

       @amy Like, no matter how much the have arguably good intentions, at the end of the day they still have to bens the knee and take decissions that are advantageous to the stake holders, not us.
