       #linux long shotI'm running Pop OS so Ubuntu.I installed COSMOS, then GNOME.I was able to easily switch to GNOME once it was installed. But, since that switch, I haven't seen the gear to the lower right on the login tile to select desktop environment.Then I installed Cinnamon. Still no gear. Is there a configuration file I should check or something?I've not had luck searching the web for "ubuntu desktop environment selection thing not visible"

       that's a 'session chooser' and it's configured by a bunch of .desktop files in a certain directory.  when and why it pops up depends on which session manager you're using.  GNOME usually likes GDM, but I don't know what pop-os uses by default (I think it's a derivative of GDM).GDM doesn't always detect stuff when you install new desktops, so you either need to reboot or restart GDM (like sudo systemctl restart gdm) before it will realize they're there.if you're not running GDM, it depends on which one you're running.  on some of them, it doesn't show the session chooser until after you select a user.
