       oxygen is basically just apple's liquid glass but limited by the tech of the time.  I reject the claims in the article, and I suspect if the author thought more about it they would too.  "Bring back beveled edges" I get, but "bring back random stupid gradients and translucent shit" is not the same thing.  minimalism qua minimalism isn't the problem; motif was pretty minimalist and worked fine.  the actual thing people hate is the removal of important UI information in the pursuit of minimalism, and oxygen just swings the pendulum too far the other way, cluttering up everything in the pursuit of decoration.I have no problem with people making fancy themes for their computers!  but I don't think this is a movement, but instead is an instance of  "things are bad!  we must do something!  this is something; we must do it!"CC: @osnews@mstdn.social
