       EDIT: OK i need RDIMMs, got an OK deal on 2x16GB refurbished sticks...btw anyone happens to know how to speedrun this adlink ampere devkit with 2x random 8gb ram sticks from my pc? it probably needs a fitting firmware image for the ram timings?

       @mntmn probe the SPD EEPROM IC on one of the DIMMs and check if the resistance from SDA/SCL to VCC changes when plugged in vs. removed. if it changes, SPD is wired up on the board which *probably* means you don't need to configure it manually.

       @mntmn Are you sure this thing supports UDIMMs? I was under the impression the Ampere stuff needed RDIMMs, but I might be wrong. Does the board vendor provide a list of compatible RAM and is there something vaguely matching the spec of yours?

       @mntmn I'd expect this thing would (be able to) perform DRAM calibration at runtime, but I have a long history of being too much of an optimist 😉
