Apparently it's better than just povidone iodine for pre-surgery antiseptic cleaning, and they sell it over the counter in France as "Betadine alcoolique" (it's easier if you specify "the orange one"), but most pharmacies don't stock it. I went around like 5 pharmacies near Gare du Nord and only one had it.Although if I had time, I could have asked them to order it for me.

Here I am autistically obsessing over sourcing the best possible antiseptic for my procedures and some medical professionals will just use ethanol and call it a day...

@iro_miya i managed to get away using only isopropyl alcohol and betaisadona patches ("Wundgaze", which has the iodine in it), should not be that big of a thing.

@hazel@shrimp.starlightnet.work chlorhexidine is also good! Both povidone iodine and chlorhexidine are used for surgery skin preparation and there's some argument to be had on which is best but they're both definitely used.Alcohol is not a great antiseptic, so that's why we don't use it for procedures involving incisions, but alcohol-based povidone iodine or chlorhexidine works better for chemistry reasons that have been explained to me but that I don't understand.

@hazel@shrimp.starlightnet.work povidone iodine has a brown colour though so you can visibly see the area you treated, which is an advantage for the artist (I think that's what you meant by staining but I wasn't sure so I decided to point it out anyway ^^)
