       My problem with TCGs is that the game and the rules change every 5 years so your 15 years old deck will go outdated and you cant use it anymore.

       @enigmatico@mk.absturztau.be not with MTG. the rules are still pretty much the same. and you can still play your old deck how you want. though new cards are stronger most of the time.

       @enigmatico @bunni There is a simmilar thing going on with wargames like Warhammer as I heard, but that it's at least easier to reuse minis with new stats, and for minis that are no longer considered canon there are still official oprional rule to re-add them...

       @enigmatico yes for official tournaments it's screwedBut tbh unless you have a local community organizing official tournaments (in which case you can probably talk it up with them - you won't win the tournament but you could still play / get participation rewards)... if you don't have that then I think official tournaments are badLike, it's just pay to win, and then good luck to all the pay to win playersWhat I meant with balanced decks was to have fun with friends. Like, I think power creep not only is an issue for official stuff, but also for casual. And I tried printing some old balanced yugioh decks (the basic yugi/kaiba decks) and playing with them, and it was fun. I think in the future I'll print a bunch of decks with different levels, so you won't see a power creep deck against a bad deck. I think that's the fun of TCG - and I'll add it's only fun if you print them for cheap. Because official cards are way too expensive, and speculation made it even worse. When you find out that it's all just fancy cardboard, and stop caring about official, it becomes much more fun imo

       @enigmatico yea I was being nice when saying expensiveTbh there was one point where I had the choice to upgrade a deck for tournaments (in fire emblem tcg), and the price of the cards made me realize it's too much for meAnd then I thought back on all the cards I got for casual play - so much less expensive than tournament decks - and that was still super expensive overallI think that's the first trigger to me trying out the printing method (that and learning about yugioh new stuff and my sibling being willing to try playing a bit)
