       @nullenvk if it’s your own hack: write docs, you’ll forgetif it’s a shared codebase: WRITE DOCS, EVERYONE WILLsorry, i’ve hopped through enough hoops that are deemed “best practice” to despise the concept of “best practice”.

       @nullenvk if everyone documented every small weird thing about their codebase (not even shit that they think is “cursed”, just little papercuts) then it would be so much nicer to write code. i’m not the best at this (far from it!) but writing good comments and documentation is a skill you learn your whole “career”

       @domi tbh, what distinguishes "cursed" code from an cool hack is whether it's possible to maintain it in the long termIt's a cool hack if it's a small one-shot project. If it's a codebase that multiple people are going to contribute to - oh my god, i don't want to ever touch that
