       Goodhart's law is an adage that has been stated as, "When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure"The problem with listening to people who identify as experts, scientists, engineers and teachers, is that people who have political ambitions (politicians) will then simply identify as experts, scientists, engineers and teachers.

       @newt @stux this can also be true, but my dad *was* an engineer, and previously a teacher - although I did learn /some/ useful stuff from him (mostly related to cars and motoring), he still got sucked into supporting Thatcho and didn't believe in "excessive regulations" on fossil fuel use..

       @stux A politician's job is to lie, thats exactly what we pay them for: so we can be told that its all ok whilst big money burns the house to the ground and we get to abdicate responsibility.They may lie, but its us that vote for them to lie to us on behalf of big oil, gas and tech.If you give power to those that seek it, then you can't realistically be surprised that they abuse it.
