       @kabel42 @mirabilos @skrzyp for their soc's for the regular computer boards they still require NDA's so your point if you're trying to make one is invalidalso i'm fairly certain a single source chip from an enterprise isn't "least evil"

       @wyatt @skrzyp @mirabilos You mean Broadcom still requires an NDA for their chips? Sure, AFAIK every Cortex-A chip does. Though I'd love to be proven wrong on this :)For the MCUs RPi "designed themselves", I don't know of a single MCU where two vendors make binary compatible chips, closest I know are clones of the STM32F103 that are similar enough you can run the same software with some effort if your code isn't to complex maybe

       @wyatt @skrzyp @mirabilos x86 has historically not been grat at having the same pinout between intel, amd via and cyrix and the STM32 clones i've seen were pre AMD K6 levels of compatible
