       A while back, I created some Matrix rooms for my projects. I ended up putting them aside because, with all the issues I was already handling, it felt like too much pressure to keep up with.But I now understand this isn't just another task to maintain. It allows people who already know projects like Fedilab to support others without me having to be there for every single question.What's your opinion if I recreate the rooms?

       @apps Honestly, I won't use it because of Matrix. It's probably unpopular to say this on the fediverse, but my experience with Matrix as a user has been so poor that I'm staying away from it. (and I know a thing or two about computers)

       @koantigI went with Matrix because that's what I had used before, but I'm not set on it. If you have another suggestion, I'm open to it.

       @apps@toot.fedilab.app I don't understand why we don't eat our own cake. If discussing a client for the Fediverse, why not do it in the Fediverse, instead of pulling user activity away from it ?

       @dennis_melhedeYes, it would be the best place, but things don't work that way in practice. Replies on the Fediverse often get buried or don't federate to instances where helpful people would see them. Smaller instances are especially affected, since they federate with fewer servers and their users get less visibility on threads hosted elsewhere. Fedilab can show all thread replies, but it's not the default. A dedicated room makes questions easier to find and answer.

       @apps I'd think a forum (e.g. discourse) is more appropriate for support than a chat room. It can be searched and referred to.

       @koantigA forum would need contributors to help with moderation. I'm not against the idea, but I'd need support from people I already know and trust.

       @dennis_melhedeI think there's a misunderstanding. The Fediverse does work, you can see posts across instances, that's true. But in practice there's always a delay, and an instance can't be aware of everything happening elsewhere. Smaller instances especially miss out because they federate with fewer servers. So a call for help about Fedilab posted here won't necessarily reach all the instances where helpful users are.

       @apps Personally I'd prefer XMPP but also could imagine that still more people use [matrix]. But I don't know. A forum anyway is better as platform for that case.

       @appsLet's those chatrooms go and also the support per Mastodon  account (IMO). I find that too much fragmented. A support forum (which exists) and also properly communicted Git issues should be fine. Structure is needed. Otherwise it's getting exhahausting.
