       I freaking ♥️ public transport!Currently I have my drivers license for over 15 years now but never had to own a car. Ofc I totally understand the #Netherlands is relative small, dense and flat compared to some massive countries but we also invest a lot in public infrastructure!Besides from being able to bike almost anywhere in the country, most places also have public transport coverGood stuff! #NL

       I write these post sitting in a bus that drives me basically to my front door for costs way less than a car would costs in fuel alone, not to mention insurance, tax and car degradationBonus, all busses are electric! ⚡️

       @stux How are you guys dealing with the proliferation of e-bikes. Here in the American backwater, it's a mess. You have 13-year-old kids with type III (basically an e-motorcycle) driving on sidewalks and killing pedestrians. The solution of punishing the kid's parents doesn't really help. It seems like we need to re-engineer our streets and licensing of vehicles. What have you guys done?

       @stux its kinda funny, same situation for me (drivers license, never had to have a car) in Germany, only times I'd ever need a car is for the trips to the Netherlands :neobot_giggle:

       @stux I lived for 10 years on “the peninsula” south of San Francisco ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_Peninsula ) operating solely by bike, bus and train.Many American cities are designed in ways where it’s not only inconvenient but nearly impossible to operate without out a car an not lose 3-4 days per day to spotty bus service.These things are deliberate choices by city planners, but it’s still possible to operate without a car! ☺️☺️☺️

       @stux except what if you're disabled and  being in a buss  means a lot of stress?can I sit down before the buss starts moving?will be there any seats in the first place?

       @patricus Both yes!The chauffeur always waits until everyone sits down before driving off and there are always extra added seats for people with disabilities for easier access

       @patricus As it should be!Busses also got special fold-able ramps for wheelchairs and with the trains there are special "carts" for it that offer a ramp like exit from the train
