Teaching credentials is job security for retards. It keeps more highly educated individuals from becoming teachers mid-career. Imagine if doctors, lawyers, accountants, chemists, engineers, architects, etc could suddenly move latterly into teaching positions. Current union members would be pushed out and quality of education would go up.

Amish schools are run by Amish women who have an 8th grade education only, and with NO teacher training whatsoever. And somehow they manage to produce better financial outcomes the public school system.The whole profession should be re-assigned to the bottom of the ocean.

@PNS this is the problem with society. the core problem. instead of actually ever punishing people in a meaningful way, people get to just resign or get fined or let go with a slap on the wrist. the school board needs ACTUAL PUNISHMENT that goes so far that it dissuades people from even thinking of trying to do this.

She knew zip about physics (and was scared of the machines my dad and I built and played with). But she understood real, classical education. I got to watch her in action.She scheduled the lessons, and kept the students on track. Then she told them, "I don't understand this! Can you explain it to me?" They all competed to try to get her to understand. Maybe twice, there was a question they were stumped on - but an expert (my dad) was available after work.I saw first hand that no, subject matter knowledge is NOT required, and only occasionally helpful, for a good teacher.
