       soooo, this image (depicting the soviet flag being risen over the reichstag during the battle of berlin) is indirectly illegal in berlin during the world war 2 commemorations during may 8-may 9 because they’ve banned the soviet flag during those. germany clearly has a very enlightened relationship with its history.

       @lizzy every time  ive been  to berlin  ive  always  felt  such a  sense of  ..  shame?  coming  from the  city .  as if  it longed  to be  as  liberal  and  far away  from communism  as ot  can be .  i suppose  post-wall  american propaganda  did  its job rlly  well

       @fiore i feel like it is specifically just incredibly ironic to ban it during the WW2 commemoration, in a place that was famously liberated by the soviets, while everyone here has seen this image in history class

       @lizzy yea its just  weird .  also  idk  about  Germany but  fascism  in italy  began with  people  beating the  shit out  of  proclaimed  leftists and  communists .  like .  this  does  not  give  good vibes  at all .  but  what  does  nowadays
