I was talking about misskey and how much better it was than the other frontends on discord and I guess it made @macguffin nostalgic or something because he signed up for neondystopia.world. UX is quite bad. But the UI for Misskey is just a dream and I can't really go back to other front ends anymore.

You should choose your server independently of your client.

Having different front ends, back ends, and confusing compatibility issues between all the front ends and back ends is probably the main issue holding the fedi back from turning Melon Husk's 40B of xitter stonks into toilet paper. I'm not a coder, I don't want to code, I don't even want to run Linux (though I'll probably have to soon).

@Deadlift @london @Zergling_man @macguffin if you want to go to Linux, I'd highly recommend learning Arch, it's actually the most stable out of everything since you could fix it yourself.Get XFCE as a DE and you're good to go for everything.

@MK2boogaloo @Deadlift @macguffin @london I still recommend artix over arch for PCs, just because you can get xfce bundled and configured.I hear that arch has made major strides in the install but I don't tend to do USB installs anymore so I'm not sure what that means.https://archlinux.org/download/ doesn't seem to indicate it's that far, at least.

@Deadlift @london @Zergling_man @macguffin oh Mint is nice, I used it for a year or so. Definitely a nice OS if you want something that just works.My problem with it was that the packages can be too old sometimes and for my usage I need something cutting edge. Other than that it was a good OS.

I thought I was living the sound on linux meme and kept switching between pulse and pipewire, come to find out it was just muted :kekw:
