       @lizzy Bytecrafter in me wants something more like hex+dictionary or post-it/fix-up asm so a mnemonic maps to a specific opcode.That said x86 looks like a special curse.

       @lizzy Intel, of course. And, for an x86 programmer, interestingly, gas’ noprefix intel mode has the least amount of surprises / gotchas (like nasm’s mishandling of pushf/popf as pushfd/popfd in 32-bit mode).

       @lanodan @lizzy I drew an opcode and mod-reg-r/m byte encoding map and cp437 table as a kid, my mother photocopied it a few times for me so I could keep a copy with me in my portemonnaie(need to scan the one I found one of these days)reason was more sad, parents limited computer time extremely, especially when I was “bad” 🤬 so I hand-assembled, to count bytes, as DEBUG.COM’s assembler had no labels (naturally)
