The comic I posted today is the first one that I have created from A to Z under a Wayland session (KDE Neon User Edition, Plasma 6.6.4, Krita 6.0.1), and that after 17 years under X11. A big thanks to:- the Wayland team for improving the color management- KDE Display/Input team for the tablet and ICC support- Krita team for a better experience on Wayland. @feff Yes, it was a path of the last two years of trials and errors, long long implementation discussion or small release step by step, sometime signifiant but only as a lib in backend before getting the real option. I tested them and reported bug on the way, but finally good to get all my check-boxes check and stop the "bug report and testing on a spare laptop era" and just install it for my workstation, because it exceeded feature parity. There is now some improvements too.

@davidrevoy It's great that you are having such success. I feel like a lot of loud people are incredible negative about Wayland (and SystemD). So it's nice to see someone have a positive take.

@gideonstar I guess you want to spot the palm of the hand to reject it? (palm rejection),Here, for the laptop, I deactivate touch support totally on demand (made a *.desktop shortcut and bash script for that).On my workstation, the XpPen Pro 19 (gen2) don't have touch, so I use only the stylus. I don't usually use a glove, except on signing session (paper) to not put too much sweat of hand on the books of the owner I'm drawing something on. @ToonLink Yes, it is still "fresh paint" situation and small workaround in some places here and there (I'll detail that in my post), but for the big fundamental: it's here, and it has even a couple of improvements and quality of life on some aspects.

@jussi I had fresh ICC files, so I fed KDE Plasma device settings with that, and installed DispcalGUI as a Flatpak, started it, toyed a bit with it, and concluded (maybe too early, if I refer to your experience) that I could make a ICC if I turn "sRGB color intensity" to 0% and run the Flatpak as a XWayland sRGB pure surface, on the display device without Color Profile.I'll try to generate a ICC tomorrow, I'm worry I had a blind spot in my tests about this part now 😆

@redj True about Neon KDE User Editon: it can be dangerous with the "rolling KDE Plasma latest D.E." on top of a 24.04 LTS Ubuntu (probably 26.04LTS in october). But right now, I need on my requirement the latest, for Wayland/Qt reasons, and it is among all other option (Arch based, Fedora) the least dangerous of the pack. But there is still a risk.

@davidrevoy Oh, coincidentally I just made the switch from Mint Cinnamon to Fedora KDE last weekend, after a few days of testing on a spare drive.I guess I'll see how it goes on the long run, stability-wise... 😅

@Tapewolf Putting Plasma desktop 5.x on top of Mint is an excellent way to still have a rock solid install, and security updates. I think Plasma 6.6.4 is also the frozen version for the 26.04LTS ecosystem; so certainly next Mint will get this too (Mint team often rebase on top of LTS around October, afair).I really wish Mint KDE could come back as official, it was my favorite distro.

@danielsteinborn It's a part I had overlooked, because I had fresh ICC files at hands during my tests, coming from my previous calibration/profiling at the start of spring. I just checked that I could run DispcalGUI (flatpak) and I assumed that I could just turn off the profile manually in my session to let it do the work. I'll try to profile this week-end, and if it doesn't work, I'll search for workaround. This is something I need (and it will be part of the blog post).

@mica @jussi Yes, dispCalGUI runs on a XWayland windows, so, a assumed sRGB surface. That's why you need to turn off any profile on the Display Settings of Plasma before running it, so the sRGB isn't applied and the apps use all gamut of the monitor (unprofiled RGB).

@davidrevoy I really wish I could follow your steps. My current hardware is a limitation. I’ll stick to X11 for as long as Wayland misbehaves with Nvidia GPUs or I can afford a new laptop without Nvidia gpu 🤷
