me, buying a wifi repeater with an ethernet switchthe guy at the store was like, yeah it's going to make things way slower, I said I don't care, as long the whole thing supports gigabit speedsI set it up in my mom's studio where she only have the wifi from someone else's room and the speed test went up to like 300 Mbit/s which was way higher than anything we had beforesurely we don't have the same definition of slow

also mom wanted Cat 8 cables just because she saw it goes up to 8I bought Cat 6a because these days there's no reason to go bigger, it does gigabit and that's all we want

@Yuki cat 6a is more than fine even for 10 gig, any higher is probably better suited for fiber optic

@mikoto @Yuki dosn't the 8p8c (RJ45) connectors not even support more then 10gbit to begin with? I rember thats what they told us in school.

@Loyal @Yuki I think there is a 25gbase-t standard, but nothing actually uses it afaik

@mikoto @Loyal yeah there's even a 40GBASE-T but I think past 10G everyone would still rather use fibre
