       @kirby @yohan Indie games are awesome ever heard of Minecraft chudbut seriously I like Balatro and Hollow Knight and Silksong and Shovel Knight and The Messenger and other random shit.  I'd assume the issue is network effects, you don't have a lotta people playing them IRL, so you don't have people you can talk to about them.  Or they're largely single player

       @kirby indie games do not exist in a vacuum from the same forces of capital that influence AAA. Many indie games are made not out of artistic expression but trend chasing just like AAA (friendsoykaf, roguelikes, deck-builders, esc). Many indie games are lower quality imitations of better games from the 90s/00s.

       @kirby that doesn't make my point any less valid.Absolutely modern/contemporary art is shit. That doesn't make it any less true that video games (what should be the ultimate form of media considering they combine all aspects of art and add a new element of interactivity) have gone down the shitter in terms of quality and people have been trained to have lower standards than they did

       @yohan okay well going back to strictly video games, older games were not immune to this problem, actually some genres were famous for having clones of the same tried and true format just being pumped out for a looong time

       @yohan seeing your newest reply now i think you're just glorifying older titles too much, slop has always existed in the video game realm especially, the only reason im not exclusively dedicated to older titles is *because* of all of the unoriginal uninnovative garbage that was released in the 90s and 00s. otherwise id be inclined to agree with you
