       @dangillmor It is my totally uneducated and anecdotal opinion that electronics based AI is a technical dead end.We can, for example, gain much greater degrees of parallelism and energy efficiency by adopting methods from chemistry and biology.  For instance, it strikes me that chemical based long-sequence pattern matching based on things like CRISPR, could gain several orders of efficiency over a mountain of Nvidia processors bathed in a cooling liquid (a la Cray 2).Also, a lot of modern electronic AI tries to go for excessive precision and is thus wasteful.  Consider, for example, how you might walk across a park.  You do not need an instruction that says "turn to 92.587 degrees (true) and go 87.357 meters".  You really need "go East for about 90 meters".  That is where analog computing, or low precision digital, may readily dominate today's electronic methods.

       @dangillmor The market can remain irrational much longer the can remain financial, or something simillar.There are lots of TV financial people all saying that the markets should be connected to the valuations but there is way too much cash looking for a home for valuations to matter.I don't suppose we could get that cash into useful things like housing, healthcare, environment, renewable energy and education?
