       It always kinda seems like AI discourse converges on "People who use AI are LITERALLY NAZIS" vs "If you don't use AI you're an obsolete fossil who is going to get left behind!"

       @JessTheUnstill meanwhile, my opinion is:The technology of generative AI would be fine if the resource use (electricity, cooling water, hardware, scraping request rate) would be drastically reduced, the models not controlled almost exclusively by unaccountable corporations, people and companies using generative AI would be fully responsible for the quality of the product/service/code they create with the AI, and people whose job gets replaced by AI don't get thrown into poverty.In summary, basically: The problem with generative AI is capitalism.

       @enigmatico @JessTheUnstill Without capitalism there probably wouldn't be an incentive to stuff slop into everything while completely ignoring the consequences for quality and safety.
