       An author brand is basically "what can people expect from a writer's works." my author brand is basically "wtf, dude." Which is honest, but not useful to readers.a writer friend whose opinions I respect came to me out of the blue and said that my fiction was "savage retrofuturism, with a heart of mush, SF's Gary Numan." That's a better take on what I aim for than I've come up with, but now I have no idea what to DO with it.So that's gonna be living in my head rent-free for the indefinite future.

       @mwl Buddy: your tech books are awesome.They follow all the key threads, cut through to the most useful points, and (🤔 need a nice term here, eh...) give voice to the gallows humour flowing from the cognitive dissonance that we all feel when we try to build straight things from the automated crooked timber we call code.(I'm enjoying "$ git commit murder" too.  I might just attend BSDCan to meet these people, murderous and otherwise.)
