       Cyberpunk logic be like: all hackers in the entire universe live in the same city and meet in the same nightclub, not scattered across 12 timezones. The nightclub where everyone plans to hack the mainframe is somehow always within a distance equivalent to an elevator ride, not a 2-hour commute where you get compressed like a tarball going through 2 subways just to get your bossman's numbers entered into Excel. The nightclub is the safest place in the city, hostile forces or the authorities never monitor or raid it.

       @niconiconi eeeh, in quite few cyberpunk stories the nightclub gets raided but yeah transport in those is basically always just "poof, done" unless it's like needed for the plot to have them be late.

       @niconiconi *Snowcrash* had its skateboard courier (and I guess the bar was always close by because it existed in the Metaverse and not in the meatverse).  But I guess it wasn’t cyberpunk, it was picaresque. Plus, American, so no subways to speak of.And there was that Gibson novel with the bicycle courier who lived in a favela on the Bay Bridge.Question: can you judge a cyberpunk setting by where in the world that same nightclub is?  80s cyberpunk, it was in Japan.  Nineties cyberpunk, it was on a space station?
