       This second half of month challenge is to try to use macOS instead of my Linux desktop and it’s so incredibly painful. I don’t know if it’s because I’m old and incapable of change or macOS is just bad. I suspect the latter though. It is quite bad.

       @poni I attempted to use MacOS this summer after 15+ years of Linux. It's bad, but some say it's possible to adapt yourself to this abomination (you'd carry half the stack yourself anyway)

       @vadim @poni my experience is that mac ui is not particularly well organized, but good responsivity and low latency sort of makes up for it.as in -- if some setting is hidden somewhere where you wouldn't expect it, it's generally fine, because you can just look around everywhere quickly.in gnome you accidentally click in the wrong spot, and you're stuck for 10 seconds. btw have you opened the background setting in gnome recently...this sort of explains why linux is great for people who use computers with more confidence and perfer thinking to trying things out randomly
