Talked with an screening nurse about temperatures. She checks people before they donate blood, so these are folks who say they are healthy. She almost never sees anyone at 98.6°F. Most are in the high 97's. A few in the low 98's, and few in the mid 97's.Yet there is still plenty of push for the number that isn't real. It's still in plenty of text books, websites, etc.One more reason to not trust the science.

@RichardJohnson Probably. It also varies by gender, weight, activity levels (both average and current), ambient temperature and a few other things.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_body_temperatureThe original sample set was 25,000 Europeans with varying health statuses.

@tj If you are interested in your temperature and stuff. My recommendation is test strips. You can check a whole bunch of medical stuff about yourself with them.Cost $10-20 for packet of 100.That's 10c a test. They should get everyone to do this test if you are in the waiting room for a doctor's appointment because you are feeling unwell.

@RichardJohnson @tj there is a biological variance and not respecting that was literally pinged as a cause for malpractice against black americans in the past.the solution turned out to just be teaching the doctors "they're more likely to have heart problems, check" because they didn't know. (there are some places where they don't try as hard, different issue)
