I wish I was better at arcade games. It’s like I’m so bad that I don’t even know how to practice. if I need 5 continues on the first level is it even worth trying?

@aceattveg They're kinda designed for that, so I wouldn't feel bad about it. Arcade games are kind of just about learning the dance, seeing the little gotchas they put in there to make you think "you won't trick me out of my quarter like that next time!" So getting good at them is kind of just a matter of throwing yourself at it until it makes sense to you.

@aceattveg@gamepad.club To be honest I don't really have much advice besides "persevere", arcade games are a whole different beast from games built for home platforms. It's really just an acquired taste - much like how I angrily ragequit fighting games and other PvP games because I don't know the first thing about Gitting Gud at them or not feeling like the worst and dumbest player in the omniverse.

@rinmari68k I love the aesthetic of them so much but I’ve been trying the Capcom Arcade collection and every game is just mind blowingly hard. Do think part of the problem is playing on the TV and then the arcade aspect ratio makes the bullets a little too hard to see in many games. But it really applies to beat em ups and platformers and every other kind of arcade game I try too.

Well, trying the same games, it's definitely easier on PC. Sitting right up close to the screen, it's a lot easier to follow the finer details like small projectiles. Still hard as heck, though.
