       of course echoes lots of other theorists. ellul isn't catholic but there's so much overlap in perspective; if anything it's clearer bc he doesn't claim a historical legitimacy

       i think as a sort of shadow of former selves, i have a reflexive skepticism for critics of modernity -- i try to be creative, open-ended, positive, instead of taking the posture that detracts first and then (optionally) posits possible solutions. but, it's not quite punditry here, just a calm conversation
