i've had the subject of what era we're in on my mind lately. you can never be too confident in labeling the time you're currently in because you can't see the future, but i think i can see enough to make an educated guess: The Nexus Age. we see a metric ton of rehashes and new status quos being set amongst cultural touchstones, and while we have the occasional backlash it's nowhere near as severe anymore.let me give you a couple examples. the epstein files drop, and those who knew beforehand probably expected some real outrage; but instead we got lipservice and ultimately there was no country-wide shift. on an entertainment level, i have friends shilling the newest bland Star Wars content to me, a canon that they've quietly settled the films into that they felt outrage with previously.the simple answer is that the average normalfag will consume everything, but there used to be a limit. what's happening now is that, on a cultural and political level, the 2020s are shaping what the status quo is supposed to be. the franchises that have been brought back in the 2020s are now reinstated and solidified as building blocks in this new culture. the epstein stuff? simply part of the world we live in. this is all being set in stone in order to solidify and become the bedrock for the future.why do this? well for one it's because of the 2010s and the great deal of outrage we saw in just about every aspect of life. this needs to be drilled into acceptance so that future moves don't seem so out of the ordinary. the second is because with the internet going billions-strong we are now dealing with one giant collective consciousness, a fresh new mind made up of billions of neurons with avatars. it's a mind that demands to be molded and hardened into sculpture to decide how the world will live. the internet has succeeded in enslaving the entire world under one silent global empire, lockdowns being the initiation ritual for entire peoples. what is made or is done in the 2020s now has magnitudes more power and influence than even the greatest emperors would blush at.this is the Nexus Age. assimilation is even stronger and more covert than ever before. how about an animegirl for your trouble?

My main hope is that AI makes "culture" so niche and hypertargeted that it entirely atomizes humanity's shared experience in the most unmonetizable way possible. In this toxic slurry only those who develop the means to ignore "culture", enjoy art made by humans and (if not create for yourself) transmit this art by word of mouth alone will even have a culture that can be transmitted. If not, you get the Suno-maxxers that only ever listen to the synthetic music they generate and they are the only souls who will ever hear it.

@Netoraremancer that's really the only reason why there's so much concern over AI from powerful people, they want to make sure this nexus remains pure enough to accurately manipulate and market to. they used it at first to disseminate networks they hated (like image boards) but now they're realizing that's gonna happen to their network too and they fear that. that's why the digital ID is so important to them.

@Netoraremancer the brain is the perfect analogy for this situation. everything is connected, but under the illusion of echo chambers; this is fine, the brain itself is divided after all, and that allows the network to process and spread information faster. the issue now is that AI is making little pocket networks of its own, stealing away individual neurons from the brain to form malignant tumors. brain cancer's always been a infamous ailment because it's difficult to cull the rogue cells without also destroying innocent ones, which for the internet means valuable persons who could create an uncontrolled network irl or something equally dangerous. the difference in this analogy is that the internet has the capacity to lock down and tag 99% of its neurons if they can get that power; they've got everyone hooked for entertainment and business so anyone who falls away was probably not a net positive to this neural network.

while I flesh out this idea, I will back it up with how the attitude of notable movie and game franchises began to shift. while these franchises changed, the community for them was relatively the same UNTIL the nexus point.>Star Wars had a consistent group from its inception through its Prequels and Legends content, which is why there existed so much debate and criticism going into the Sequels. Nexus Point begins in 2019 with the Mandalorian and that group has about vanished in the new bedrock laid out from that moment.>Halo had a consistent group from its inception through its run and into the 343 era, which is why its sequels were so lambasted. Nexus Point begins in 2019 with the release of Halo Infinite as well as the Master Chief Collection coming to PC, population is inundated by the influx from that point as well as the Paramount+ show a couple years later.>Resident Evil had a consistent group of people who played even as they made a shift in creative direction with RE4, and this continued through to RE7. Nexus Point begins in 2019 with Resident Evil 2 Reimagined, and the vocal majority is built upon the bedrock laid from that point to now.>Sonic the Hedgehog has a very vocal group of people going through from classic to adventure to modern and we see all manner of debate to this day. 2019 was the advent of the IDW comic run as well as the announcement for the Paramount movie, and while Sonic's autistic group is arguably the least hurt by the Nexus Point we do the new comics and movie form the new bedrock as well as Sonic Frontiers a couple years later.I don't think this happening at around 2019 is a coincidence at all. not that the relative studios knew that, but it aligned perfectly to create a new status quo based off of what was injected right into that time in history. 2019 is also when Epstein died and the discussion regarding that was equally subsumed into the Nexus Point, which is why its return to relevancy in 2026 didn't rock the boat. I'm sure I could find an exception in there somewhere - the late 2010s in general is full of notable examples - but we can just about make out the birthdate for our new world through these symptoms.
