I don't think anything (from governments) is going to have any appreciable impact. Decentralized things self-regulate, and imposing centralized regulation on them is just insanely hard.The way it's hard is very unique too, because it seems reasonably easy, but every time you impose a restriction, you find there are things that are out of reach of that restriction, so you need another one, and it just continues like that endlessly forever.

Adblock lists work because basically everybody is on the same team, everybody hates ads.AFAIK (I don't pay that much attention) we already have a few blocklists on fedi, AFAIK they're named things like "The Superlist", "Fediverse Hatespeech List" etc. And they do not consider each other valid and they do often block each other's instances.
