GOOD NEWS! https://codeberg.org/vimuser/librewolf-openbsd-port/commit/8f89ab81334425a3b8446710bb8fdd0fbb674d20My LibreWolf port for OpenBSD *should* build and work perfectly now!I did a stable-7.8 branch with LibreWolf 143 last week, that works perfectly, but LibreWolf 149 didn't build on -CURRENT (7.9).This patch fixes it. Mozilla has its own memory allocator that intercepts real malloc to handle lots of small allocations (inside one big allocation) efficiently, but there was an ABI mismatch with OpenBSD. Fixed now.Will show LW 149 running when it has compiled.

UPDATE AGAINNOW it should build. i cleaned up PLIST, also removed a bunch of libraries that are likely unnecessary (i copied some stuff from www/tor-browser, not just firefox, tb uses more stuff).i removed REVISION. in its current state, this would be the first version, on the current upstream (DIST) version).openbsd adds REVISION = 1 when making a revision to the current upstream version, relative to before. then 2, 3, etc.port should be ready for review now. i want this in openbsd 7.9

after all this, i have other ports on my TODO:* port invidious to openbsd (if not already ported)* port libreboot lbmk to openbsd* port libreboot-utils to openbsdthen i can make OpenBSD my primary operating system (currently Debian). i will ditch Debian and make *Arch* Linux my secondary.i know openbsd for years. i read its code, and its docs. i install it for customers, so i need to understtand it. but i fell in love with it because of my recent usage. it's just a really nice little OS.

@moses_izumi that surprises me, that wine isn't available for openbsd. makes sense though, because you can't run 32-bit programs on 64-bit openbsd. w^x probably screws a few things up too (who knows what the hell a random windows program does). obsd kernel does some crazy things too...probably a pointless effort. even lots of 64-bit windows programs still have 32-bit components.why would you want to run windows software on openbsd anyway? just use linux/freebsd for that. openbsd is pure.

@libreleah Might be useful if you're running OpenBSD on a machine that doesn't have enough resources to run a suitable virtual machines (OpenBSD seems to be vaguely popular in the netbook and vintage computer scenes).

@moses_izumi just run windows if you need to use windows software. it's that simple. or set up wine on linux or freebsd. openbsd doesn't need wine imo.

@moses_izumi you *could* theoretically set up an environment where openbsd 64-bit host runs a 32-bit openbsd virtual machine, and split wine stuff into the two. or just like, yeah, don't do that. as i said, openbsd is pure.solene@ was working on something a while ago remiscent of qubes, but on openbsd system. i don't remember what it was called. but you could use something like that to run windows stuff.or......................yeah, just have a linux/freebsd machine seprataely to run wine!

@moses_izumi that's the great thing about openbsd. it doesn't work with all that bloat. it simplifies everything and removes all the legacy features, to reduce its attack surface. like, multilib on linux causes so many problems.code==bugs, so running two sets of libraries causes twice as many bugs. i say just burn windows. what would i bother installing openbsd if all i wanted to do was use windows software anyway? i could just install windows.wine is great though. i donated to it, recently.

Rockstar released a working binary for free on their website, that you can simply download. I sometimes play it on my Debian machine. It's great fun. One of the best computer games ever written.but i don't need GTA2. or i just boot a linux machine if i want to play it :P

@moses_izumi also, GTA2 also can work on MS-DOS. so i *could* play GTA2 in openbsd, if i install dosbox. as far as i know, dosbox should work on openbsd quite nicely. it's all interpretation-based emulation (no dynamic recompiler) as far as i'm aware, so no issues with w*x either. everything should work. i can play kill frienzy in openbsd, in the DOS version of gta2. perhaps i might try it later.

@moses_izumi (kill frienzy is a mode in the videogame, GTA2, where you... kill everything in sight, with a different weapon each time. sometimes a flame thrower, sometimes a machine gun, sometimes a tank. it's fun!)

@libreleah no idea about the latter two, but I'd add the Trackmania series to the list.(everything before the Forever games uses hideous StarForce DRM, but unlike SuperTuxKart it ships a level editor)

@libreleah OpenBSD sure is comfy. I have used lots of snippets from its source over the years, and I really like it a lot for servers. Currently my file and monitoring server runs it and it has been accumulating uptime quite nicely
