@mwl I’m not an expert here, but the only glass etcher I’m personally familiar with is hydrofluoric acid. It has peculiarly nasty biological effects.You can put anything in a paintball if you’re brave enough, but I’d pass on this one (without further research).Now, epoxy paints that would have to be scraped off…

@tek @mwl Why stop with the Glass? Lasers and camera Sensors don‘t mix well: https://petapixel.com/2021/08/02/sony-officially-warns-that-lasers-can-damage-its-cameras-sensors/Admittedly, getting the right laser for this isn‘t as easy as obtaining paint, but there are advantages: no paint left behind, only need to buy once.Not sure how practical it is, but maybe the „idle novelist“ doesn‘t care too much about that 😉

@tek @mwl I won‘t, no worries about that. My job is networking, the high bandwidth kind and for decades that meant fiber and thus optical. I know and understand the dangers.Even without that, I don‘t consider the laser attack on CCTV cameras from being a good alternative to paint in practice. Getting the right laser, aiming and then hitting the sensor is quiet difficult. Most importantly: with paint you‘ll see if it worked, with laser you wont.That doesn’t matter much for novels though…
