       I don't get the redhat kill cycle thing.You have an arms industry, and they're being uncharacteristically honest about what they do.There's no chaff about euphemising what they do (eg calling dead civilians "collateral damage", soldiers "operators", or war "kinetic activity").The defence (arms) industry makes things that kill people and break their stuff so your politicians can have shorter wars with fewer casualties.This is how the sausage is made. If you don't like it, reassess why:

       If you're upset that wars exist, start electing politicians that don't start wars of aggression.If you're upset that you were exposed to shocking words, think about why you have been insulated from gory truth for so long.If you think the arms industry simply shouldn't exist, consider Ukraine.

       Otherwise, what I see looks like people who enjoy BBQs, but are hypocritically up in arms when they are exposed to the mechanics of industrial food slaughter.You have input to this system. Become a vegetarian/reform your politics.You can't be angry at this but go back to eating war-raised meat.

       @kline Heh I kind of wish it would be as easy to get something among the lines of a defense-only/neutral military as is going veg'But overall yeah, I agree and I'd much rather go bother politicians instead of some virtue signaling nonsense or blatant hypocrisy.

       @lanodan You're right, since it's a national policy, you can't singlehandedly make an incremental difference, but every individuals contribution counts.Screaming bloody murder at a frank summary of capabilities just incentivises the arms industry to do more of their work out of the public eye, or to euphemise it to minimise the public's understanding/reaction.

       @lanodanGood news: war is inefficient, so most of the time the two countries involved just agree on a deal that is close to the predicted result of war, instead of fighting.In that case, the military's role is to convince the enemy that a war would result in an outcome that is favourable to you.@kline

       @wolf480pl @kline None of that is good news, politicians do not care about inefficiency, specially as they don't fund it and it doesn't hurts them, at best they get more bad reputation (as usual).Also consider that a lot of politicians are sociopaths.
