       By default, only my followers can quote my posts. I wish the same setting was available for boosts.The only times my posts get boosted very far on social media are when I'm being snarky. I don't like that the side of my personality that I like least is the one that strangers like most.When a large number of people go "haha she sure told them, I'll click this button to share in the coolness", I know I've hit the wrong tone.When I'm being nice, I have a small audience. In that kind of environment, it feels normal to not hide when I'm annoyed.I know I can set visibility of annoyed posts to followers only, and I will. It does feel dishonest to only show my best to people who are deciding whether they want to follow me, but that's the least bad option the software allows.I'm supposed to be the GOOD kind of trouble.

       I think there's an important difference between two different kinds of public conversation. One is open to anyone who is interested enough to look for it, the other is meant to be shared to as many people with as little friction as possible.
