@Zergling_man @Suzu @nigger @deckbot the codex as I posted earlier is the most up to date resource (Main 3 is currently being playtested). I also found that metal 2 + covered psychic 1 in the same line is exodia, Chaos as the last protocol makes the setup reasonable as well, it might also be possible with Time.Going to have my first session playing compile IRL tomorrow

@Zergling_man @Suzu @deckbot @nigger oh why was I thinking about flipping psychic 1 when it was covered, you only need to flip it in the same action that covers it, which metal 0 does while also preventing your opponent from compiling with their last facedown, so Spirit/Metal/Psychic as a main 1 only combo deck works

@latein @deckbot @nigger @Suzu I don't think metal 0 can target psychic 1 if it's played into the same line? Surely it should count as covered by the time the effect resolves.

@Zergling_man @latein @Suzu @deckbot as in, psychic 1 is played, opponent plays a facedown, psychic 1 flips itself, metal 0 lowers opponent's score and flips psychic 1 back up while covering its third box, then metal 2 ends the game

@nigger @deckbot @Suzu @latein Yes, I gathered. As I said, I do not believe it can target psychic 1 with its flip effect in that case, because it should already be covering it. Box2 effects resolve after the card lands (see Card Text on page 2 of the PDF that notes that water 4 can target itself - I thought I'd also seen something about life 1's second effect not occurring if it targets itself with its first effect, not sure where though - this would be a contradiction if it were still committed at that point)....Hey, on page 3, in Committed Cards, it notes that cards enter a line "in the order they were committed, one at a time". You previously said that diversity 1 would come in on top of whatever it shifts (if it shifts into its line), but that's not the case. But I guess because it hasn't actually landed in the line yet then it gets to keep resolving, and then gets covered after it finishes. (So the rule about text stopping as soon as it leaves play is only for uncovering and flipping cards, I guess.)

@Zergling_man @latein @Suzu @deckbot turns out it cannot, the middle effect is something on the field, so such setup cannot be done by metal, that is good to know as I'm making the simulator. plague 4 then would be the gay combo of main 1, and speed+plague sounds playable regardless

@nigger @deckbot @Suzu @latein Metal/psychic/speed still works, and darkness is a poor substitute for speed.I tend to just play everything though so you can just sub it out for chaos. It's almost to the point that the first two picks have to be metal and psychic just to stop them getting together.

@Zergling_man @latein @Suzu @deckbot you're right, metal 0, psychic 1, speed 3 and metal 2 is exodia. play psychic 1, cover same turn with speed 3. then play metal 2 facedown in the same line, then flip with metal 0.it's also resistant to compiling because the combo consists of more score in the psychic line than your opponent can produce themselveshowever there are still outs for someone who has played before and sees the combo coming. fire 3 and death 1 are passive interaction, plague can rip cards from hand, chaos/assimilation steal pieces etc.

@nigger @deckbot @Suzu @latein Metal 0 is superfluous: Just play psychic 1 last, and have speed 3 target metal 2.>however there are still outs for someone who has played before and sees the combo coming. fire 3 and death 1 are passive interaction, plague can rip cards from hand, chaos/assimilation steal pieces etc.Even just having 9 points sitting in 2 lines is a pretty good threat; the combo takes a minimum of 3 turns to enact, and, generally, touches every line (with some shenanigans you may be able to reduce it to 2 lines, though that probably increases the number of - visible - turns) so as soon as a piece appears, they just shove a facedown into the relevant line to make it fuck off a turn later.Hmm, but those two lines have to be metal and speed. But yeah, removal is a much safer counter.

@Zergling_man @latein @Suzu @deckbot clarity/time is a good combo, huge draw engine, maybe could work with plague 2how do you start people out? I gave myself the worst matchup I could think of, metal/plague/light vs water/life/gravity, but it wasn't close. I'm thinking me having a hand size of 3 for clear cache and refresh might be fair even if I'm playing anything other than psychic 1.

@Zergling_man @latein @Suzu @deckbot I remembered you can just remove Speed 3 when you see it, so metal 0 is not meaningfully protecting metal 2.on the other hand with Darkness 2, any facedown in the Darkness line might be a Psychic 1. although on the flipside darkness is otherwise way worse than speed, and I expect meaningfully playing for the board aside from building the combo would be the best way to play it.winning the game is a threat, but the combo can be done in only one rotation of the deck, in which it is hard to do so. being about to compile onto the psychic line is also only relevant with several cards in hand, and compiling gives the opponent a free turn

@Zergling_man @latein @Suzu @deckbot that is a good idea but not relevant to me as I am developing a simulator, I need to consider all edge cases that arise from card effects and interactions and how to properly modularise card effects. creating a reinforcement learning model for the game and playing against it is probably more fun than playing a game IRL every other week, especially when a hand size of 3 or playing without 5s/6s or only being able to play cards faceup etc. can make the game even
