       Folks, I think we're now past the time where we can claim to be in the middle about generative AI usage. You're either for it and okay with intellectual theft, racism, land grabs, polluted water, higher power bills, and creating an addicted population that can't think.Or you're against it.

       @Editrix_Rachel 🔥I feel like the technology—like many—itself is anodyne 🤷🏻‍♂️How the training data is acquired and how the outputs are used is mostly a technofeudal neoreactionary anti-worker project to extract value without recompense.A lot of people are falling for it.Some are even self-aware.

       @tuban_muzuru since the technology wouldn't exist in its current form without first having stolen the intellectual property of thousands of people, it is completely fair to not treat generative AI as any other technology.

       @Editrix_Rachel The first step, therefore, is to meaningfully stop the theft of copyrighted material.  Musicians are getting screwed, too - the PRC is stealing our IP.  The law should be where this is solved.

       @mirabilos lawsuits may force some AI companies to adjust their course, but I would rather encourage people to not use the tech in the first place, thus starving AI companies of both users and new sources of content.
