       @whiteman_I feel your pain mate. Some time ago I bought a cheap Thinkpad  X230 a while back then discovered the BIOS was locked with a password. No help from seller - who obviously bought a job lot at auction. What to do? Looked online and got jeet after jeet 'solution' that didn't bloody work. Then happened some helpful American chap in a video methodically explained a method involving opening up the case and essentially shortcircuiting between two points with an unfurled clippy on bootup to bypass the bios lock. It wasn't easy and needed several attempts but I managed it. It was then I learned the important life lesson to immediately disregard any video made by someone in that accent or showing the tell-tale brown fingers. I'm not saying every single 'How to' video is useless but they are bullshitters par excellence. Oh and when my 2012 MacbookPro shit the bed and lines appeared all over the screen and it refused to boot  there were similar jeet videos claiming it could be solved by inputting a bunch of code. Total bullshit again. It was a hardware issue outlined by Louis Rossmann @randbot and could only be fixed by putting the motherboard in an oven to reseat the graphics card (I am NOT MAKING THIS UP).
