       @mwl The funny thing about ed... I've used it, in a real situation.I had an HP-UX machine in the early 2000's boot with just the root dir mounted... someone screwed up a config and it was failing to mount /usr, and that's where vi lived.  I had to edit config files in an environment without a "visual" editor, and ed was the tool I used.HP-UX decisions about where to keep things (/ was root's home dir!) always baffled me.
