       Zionism is the true #antisemitism.The latest UK YouGov poll asked participants questions to test their take on Jewish and Israel, and it breaks down those results by political affiliation.The further you move to the right, the more likely you are to find intolerance towards Jews - but support towards Israel.95% of the Greens and Libs would be comfortable to have a Jewish friend vs. 81% of the Reform voters.Only 7% of the Greens think that Jewish people chase money more than others, but almost a quarter of Reform voters believes this prejudice to be true.Things change dramatically however when the focus shifts from Jews to Israel.Those who support far right parties are those who are most comfortable to surround themselves with people who openly support Israel. 15% of the Greens responded yes to this question vs. 55% of Reform.When it comes to an obvious question such as “Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians is similar to how the Nazis treated the Jews”, a whopping  71% of the Greens responded affirmatively, but only 19% of Reform supporters did so.The takeaway is quite obvious.Those on the right don’t support Israel because they really care about the safety of the Jews. They do because they don’t believe that Jews belong to their societies.They are the same people who keep mentioning that Muslims or Afro-americans should “go back to their country” - whatever that country is.They are so rooted in nationalistic identity politics that they see anyone who doesn’t look or think like them as a threat to their own identity.They see the world as a bunch of arbitrary fences with arbitrary borders that should be inhabited by people who all think and look alike.Support for Israel, from this perspective, has nothing to do with supporting the safety of the Jews or their right to self-determination, and everything to do with expelling a foreign body from their societies (just like Hitler did), and dumping the problem on other people (the Arabs) that they also don’t give a damn about.That is the ultimate embodiment of antisemitism.Those who condemn Israel or do not recognize its right to exist, at least not in that place and in that form, are often those who have absolutely no issues with Jews being part of their societies, and don’t justify so much suffering being inflicted on the Arab populations in order to solve a problem that doesn’t even exist for them.
