@cell@shitposter.world I am taming puters. this is not true. it can be true if you are a sysadmin. but that isn't unpaid. rather it is extra payed. overtime us either payed in cash or work time from other days.weekend and night shifts are payed extra. (as in 1.5 or 2 times)overtime is voluntarily (plus some exceptions)

@cell Weekends absolutely not unless you do systems administration. Unpaid overtime is normal-ish and depends on the company. Some will let you use overtime as vacation time, some won't allow that at all.

@cell well i work sometimes on weekend, and at night.. BUT.. there is no such things as unpaid overtime here in germany (at least i think?). When i do such things i get more money and hours, with which i can take days of another time

@cell Place I work really discourages overtime but if you need to do out-of-hours work or work on the weekend (which does happen) then you can just take that amount of time off the next week.

@cell It's true for me, but it may not be for others.Reading emails and reviewing code on weekends is not a problem for me. I love the activities apart from my job.Actually, I have sent hundreds (or maybe thousands) of patches without getting paid, and I love doing that.BTW, I can sit at my computer for more than 14 hours a day (only given short breaks).[ Not sure if I will still feel that way as I get older. ]

@cell I also have two computers next to my bed. They are on 24 hours non stop. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is check my computers (and my phone). It feels like they have become a part of my soul. Lol.I am glad the computers I have in my bedroom don't make too much noise (unlike servers or gaming rigs). They are pretty quiet, so they don't disturb my sleep.
