@tlapka @Tengu Yes it works on Linux, but you need a separate branch of Proton to get it running due to lack of some codecs in the default branch of Proton that Valve releases (for licensing reasons).But that's not too hard to configure, you can do it with a GUI tool.

@szkodnix I'd really only do a single race, 24 hour time limit for people to submit 1-2 racers. Then I could do a quick stream where we watch it!If there was enough interest I could make it a monthly thing. Race and conditions would be at my discretion probably – everyone's doing G1s for those types of events so I want to pick more unusual courses and distances.

@tlapka@ak.kawen.space Okay, fair enough.And yeah, 1 uma for a race would be fair (when organizing tournaments we don't really do the choice of 3 umas to avoid red skills meta).Also what would be the max rank? Maybe one Open (A/S Maximum) and Graded (no rank limit)?

@szkodnix I think for starters I'd play it safe and do just one race so that as many people can sign up as possiblethough, disqualifying high-ranking umas is tempting because if someone comes in with an UG most of us will just not be able to compete with thatAlso if there's more sign-ups than 18, we could even have a bracket, do qualifying rooms and then a final.but so far I'm not getting the feel there is that many takers

@tlapka I play Umamusume, but I don't really understand the details of what you're suggesting here or what you're asking of the reader (like, there's no details, no request to reply, no poll, etc; so I'm a bit confused at what you want. Maybe same for others so maybe that's why you aren't getting much of a response).Are you thinking that we'd trade IDs for whoever we want to be in the race and then someone would run it using the submitted runners?Also, what's the race like? What's the distance, course, track, weather, etc?Anyways, I can enter if you need, but I'm not too PVP centric. I build more for legacies and less for winning races, so maybe I won't be too suited for this, but I don't mind entering if you need players.

@BitBun ... okay you're right, I suppose a lot of players don't ever interact with that part of the game at allI just meant that we'd make an Exhibition > Room Match custom race room. Races from there just say "Trainer's cup" unless they're modeled after a G1. So um that's the weird wording.I think I'm just gonna try it and see what happens so I'll probably announce my decided racecourse and distance and conditions in a better post sometime next week, with the room being created a few weeks afterwards.I'm thinking of a better way to do "sign ups" but I might just ask people to send me their trainer IDs so that we can be mutuals and then they can fall into the "private slots" reserved for mutual followers. Then the rest of the spots can be publicly available to anyone that finds the room number on fedi.The post was kinda vague because I didn't really have much of an idea of how I'd do it or if people think it's fun? I had a few people reply/react since so I think it's worth trying but also just the fact people don't know/don't care might make it a small event in the end.I definitely want it to be a fun/casual event and not like tryhard pvp. at the same time I want to give people space to train their favourite uma for the right aptitude if she doesn't start out with it

@tlapka Thanks for the clarification! That sounds good to me though, I'll just await the sign-up post or something and catch it then.I can't really try-hard anyways, it takes too much time to build a runner specific for a course, so it sounds nice that it'd be more of a casual thing.

@BitBun szkodnix suggested an upper rating limit which I don't wanna do for race 1 but it's a convenient way of excluding super strong umas and the like (I don't know of anyone on fedi that has an UG though which is like the threshold for me atm)
