       @professionalbigot69 O-6 and above is all politics in the military. every single one of them has a record that's impressive on paper or they wouldn't be there, but that says nothing about their competence or fitness for the rolehe's being shitcanned along with a bunch of other generals because they're obviously not delivering the goods. maybe the demands from above are unreasonable, maybe they're not, but it doesn't matter

       A general can expect to have a very nice retirement pension, so to me this doesn't seem like much of a punishment.But making a Major the Sec. of Def--- I mean War? I mean, I seem to remember back when they really started pushing the wokeism in the military that there were some younger Brig. Generals who didn't like it and were "invited" to retire. Surely Trump could have found a suitably based retired O-7 or higher to take on the job?

       @john_rando secdef is a civilian role and has been held by a number of men who had no military service at allrumsfeld only served three years active duty before starting his political career. prior service just isn't very relevant. hegseth's rank is continuously brought up because he's a hot head and a bunch of gay old generals are offended by his public personaa real criticism of hegseth is he seems to have a hard time seeing the big picture. he appears to me to struggle with the scale of war. he's not smart enough for the current situation and he's not good at lying either
