       @JoscelynTransient I still don't quite get what launching a big expensive hunk of metal around the Moon is supposed to achieve in the year of our lord 2026. There's no real scientific value to it - we know very well what the other side of the Moon looks like, no samples are being brought back, no new ground broken at all. Seems like I'm watching Apollo fanfic in action or another of Trump's billionaire buddies do a stunt to draw attention away from the Epstein files.

       @brettm @JoscelynTransient More like it's a test run to colonize near-Earth space. Musk is already well underway with spamming low-Earth orbit with so many of his trash satelites that it will seriously interfere with astronomy and other missions with actual scientific value and if you're not aware Musk and Isaacman are buddies and business partners.

       @joykill@mastodon.social @JoscelynTransient@chaosfem.tw yes, of course the long term plan is to colonise space with a space nazi empire in control, but i'm refering to why they fly around the moon rn. its a lot of brand new tech that needs testing.they should have done a few more uncrewed missions to test as original planned, but guess who has no concept of patience and is desperate for good publicity lol

       @brettm @JoscelynTransient idk if it's right to call something brand new tech, when it accomplishes the same thing that tech from 70 years ago was able to accomplish. More like "tech that was only useful to dickwave your rocket and targeting technologies during the cold war" and now that the whole world is at war again, it's no surprise the incompetent Nazis in charge are dusting off old playbooks.

       @brettm @JoscelynTransient Yes, we're not allowed to reuse old tech that works under capitalism, we need the latest Galaxy Rocket SE Ultra Elite Pro model every year. NASA has been co-opted by the Epstein class to pump government money into Musk's enterprises for no real scientific value. Testing new tech is not in any way scientific progress by itself, when the tech isn't really new, it's just new gadgets that provide the same function as old tech, using currently available tech.

       @joykill@mastodon.social @JoscelynTransient@chaosfem.tw yep, and no space tech is new anyway, eg all computers at least 10 year old designs so cpu bugs have already been found, then they just do a radiation hardened version (or in spacex's case, don't even bother with radiation hardening lol, just include a few redundant computers and hope they don't all get fried at once, good luck astronauts!)
