       Haven't looked at this since I broke it. There really isn't any way to recover that #filesystem or files is there?Most of my files were backed up one way or another. I'm sure I'm losing some things, but shouldn't be anything too important or critical, luckily. I suppose this is an opportunity to redo the hard drive all together and maybe it's time I tried something other than #ext4. I don't think I would use #bcachefs tho, so I suppose that only leaves #zfs. Idk, need to do some reading.

       Oh. I guess #zfs is maybe not really the best option for your normal laptop/desktop root partition.

       @finner@appdot.net you actually can, most linux distros supports zfs in their install and live ISO.

       @Stellar I didn't mean that you couldn't, just that it seems for general purpose desktop type use, ext4 seems to be preferred for performance reasons. I don't really have any experience with comparing the two, just what I've been reading.

       @finner @Stellar I feel like a caveman still using ext4 on my system sometimes. I will eventually try something with copy on write... maybe. Or I could just keep running on the edge with the absolute laziest backups I can achieve. Haven't been bitten yet! Haha

       @theeclecticdyslexic @Stellar Yeah I like the idea of some of the alternative filesystems, but sometimes the old tried and true is the best choice if you don't really have any specific needs that warrant switching. And totally agree about bcachefs. It sounded like it was a little problematic to begin with, but the recent stuff with the maintainer is a def hard no for sure.
