       @zyd all i am saying is that you should keep the fact that lunduke is the one who broke the story in context.and perhaps empathize with engineers who are being told to do things by their lawyers.some hills aren't worth dying on, an optional field in a schema is certainly not a hill worth dying on.

       @bryanredeagle i mean, there are valid concerns he raised in his reporting!it is pretty fucked up that none of the major FOSS trade organizations (e.g. Linux Foundation) commented on these laws before they were passed!that *is* a problem, but what people are doing is harassing engineers for doing what their lawyers tell them to do about this.that is not energy i want in my mentions.

       @ariadne I'm really not going to empathize with Red Hat employees (among all the others who employ Linux kernel and systemd developers) People with lesser social status and money have made even more significant political stands against things in the past, but programmers can't say no to even minor moment of state compulsionTalk about pathetic if not unexpected from em. Personally, it's not a hill I'm gonna die on. I'm still gonna regrettably use systemd until I move on to something else. The world doesn't have to have systemd, it's not a big deal at the end of the day. Anyway, not gonna bug your mentions anymore.        @ariadne I'm not swayed either way by that guy, nor have i listened to his take. For me, i admire those i respect working to get around or avoid it. Projects i like that aren't engaging with avoiding/minimising/negotiating/lobbying back (or are jumping the gun and already implementing), I feel fine to state i don't feel anyone can have as much confidence in it's sovereingty.tbf, i see F(L)OSS as a war on/rejection of neoliberal socioeconomics; seeing it this way makes me predisposed to dodge/fight intervention as early as possible. I'm also not in the applicable legislative zone, but i know the speed and ease which something like this catches decides the damage everywhere else.
