       @Dan_Ramos In 2022, we flew to Atlanta to buy a van. We drove it back to our home in SoCal, through GA, AL, MS, TN, AR, OK, TX, NM, AZ and finally back in CA.I will say that -much to our surprise- of those 10 states, California had by far the worst roads.

       @zeph While I lived in Santa Clara County in the 90s, it was rare to see a badly maintained road (it happened.. but rarely, and then usually because of recent heavy rain).When I visited the area the last time in 2017... it was.. not great.  It was pretty clear that things were NOT being maintained (not just the roads, either).
