       @satsuki There's a cluster of causes for all this shit. The domestication of plants made them human dependent and weaker than the wild. They often are grown in places where they are basically invasive (but too domesticated to capitalize) and the climate isn't right (demanding more human lntervention). Then the soil is fucked, so they are constantly weak (even if they look good).Agriculture was a mistake

       @satsuki Foraged plants are more nutritionally dense often. And the amount of effort and resources poured into agriculture has to have diminishing returns, especially when you factor in the massive massive agricultural waste

       @jeffcliff @satsuki my fault for speaking so generalisticallyI'm aiming for "Permaculture-ish land management in harmony with the local climate and ecosystem". A lot of the system I see seems to have an element of "I want it now", growing things where they shouldn't be and warping genes to fit taste/aesthetics. And then there's the attempts to optimize yields of a particular crop (cuz I want it now) through various methods that always seem to cause compounding problems. How much effort and resources go into making certain foods fresh and available out of season (cuz I want it now)?There's this weird under current of the inability to delay gratification in it all

But instead, the "staple food" is often forced beyond what is or could ever be available.It feels like a fixation almost or maybe a young child that constantly wants the same favorite food everyday

       @jeffcliff @satsuki I've looked into it quite extensively, from seed production, greenhouses and indoor grow ops, hvac, international shipping and logistics. It's not all bad, but some extreme reform or even a complete rebuild seems necessary. The parasite class are trying it right now and putting billions in food insecurity It needs to be done, but not like that
